Tad Williams interviews with Xenite.Org

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Science fiction writer Tad Williams recently gave an interview to Xenite.Org.Science fiction and fantasy author Tad Williams is promoting his new book, Shadowrise, with a series of interviews and other promotions. The latest stop in his online tour is science fiction and fantasy haven Xenite.Org, arguably one of the Web’s oldest and most prestigious fan sites.

Founded in 1997, Xenite.Org has built a reputation for creating unique, extensive resources. Though most closely associated with the Hercules and Xena television show fandoms, Xenite.Org is home to the Web’s first dedicated forums for the works of Andre Norton and J.R.R. Tolkien, launched the first fan-run Farscape forum, and the first Andromeda forum.

Coming off a recent interview with actor Craig Horner, star of the popular fantasy television show Legend of the Seeker, Xenite now offers up an in-depth discussion with Tad Williams about his Shadowmarch world, comic books, and how online technology may influence science fiction and fantasy.

Williams, noted for his innovative spirit, first rose to literary prominence with a book called Tailchaser’s Song, a fantasy story told from the point of view of cats (ala Watership Down’s approach to exploring the lives of rabbits). Williams’ first book created a mythology for cats that they might actually have developed themselves.

Shadowrise, just published in March 2010, is the third in a series of four books that Williams is promoting. The Shadowmarch world made its Internet debut as an online serial but after several years Williams took his creation to traditional publishing. He talks with Xenite.Org about how things have changed in the years since then.
